Dr.Shannon Altazan D.O.

Medical Director

Dr.Altazan is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He received his degree in Disaster Science and Management from Louisiana State University in 2013. He is a 2018 graduate of the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at CAMC in 2022. 

Dr.Altazan's career in EMS spans greater than 30 years in which time he began as a firefighter and first responder, completed his EMT-Basic certification, worked as a dispatcher, obtained his paramedic, and then was promoted into EMS supervision, also serving as a regional trauma coordinator for the state of Mississippi. He also served the state of Louisiana as a National Registry Examiner. His experience spans hurricanes Katrina and Gustav, and he has worked in all environments from remote rural to high volume urban EMS. 

Currently, he also serves as Medical Director for multiple agencies in West Virginia and Ohio. He is also the Medical Director of two EMS training institutions and currently is a member of his local volunteer fire department. Additionally, he is a member of the OH/PA1 Federal Disaster Medical Assistance Team. 

He is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, West Virginia and Ohio chapters, he is also a member of the National Association of EMS Physicians. 

As the Agency's Medical Director, Dr.Altazan will take charge of our organization's Clinical Operations Oversight guiding us through our service growth and expanded patient care service projects while ensuring compliance with Medical Protocol and EMS care guidelines.
